Professor, doctoral supervisor, Department of Physical Geography
Yang Long is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Geography and Ocean Science, Nanjing University. He was selected for a national young talent program. His research focuses on the mechanisms and prediction of basin flood processes. He explores the hydrological principles, hydrometeorological processes, and hydroclimatic mechanisms behind flood hazards from the perspectives of physical processes and statistical regularities. Supported by the Frontiers Science Center for Critical Earth Material Cycling of Nanjing University and the School of Geography and Ocean Science, he is committed to developing theories and technical methods related to flood prevention and disaster mitigation. His work has been published in leading journals such as Nature, Nature Climate Change, Nature Communications, Geophysical Research Letters, Water Resources Research, Advances in Water Science, and Acta Geographica Sinica. He serves as vice chair and secretary-general of the Water Resources System Subcommittee of the Chinese National Committee of the International Hydrological Programme, and as a member of the Land-Atmosphere Interaction Subcommittee, among other academic roles.
